chitty chitty BANG BANG

We relaxed at the Lake house this weekend and the boys of course as always, loved it.
They swung on this old swing their daddy and Uncle Rock swung from as kids themselves.
Bet they too looked just as cute as these two do right now.

I kicked back on this log and read an article that has pumped me up to add some miles to my runs. I have been motivated to run 4 miles several times a week, oh boy wish me luck.
As I read Nick the lumber jack got the fire pit ready and grabbed him some wood.
His boys were having some s'mores that night.

Kicking back and trying to be cool...such hams.

Plenty of running action out there...PLENTY!

S'mores for everyone courtesy of Nick's hard labor.
Sun going down, so beautiful.

At the end of the day we went in, cleaned up, had dinner and watched Wall-E as we ate.
During the movie I SWEAR I heard two gunshots.
Nick claimed he heard nothing...we blew it off, maybe it was the movie....Gunshots in Wall-E??
Little E climbed on his dad and drifted off, Nick put on the Wii and Zenny bowled a way as Nick and I took to a friendly game of Trivial Pursuit.
Ahem, I was winning when we heard what sounded like several gunshots, it sounded like it was 2 houses down this time...no longer distant like I thought I heard earlier.
We sat there, totally frozen.
3-4-5-6-7...7 gunshots.
What do we do?
Stay?
Go?
Are we over reacting?
Okay, we're in a lake house with no land line and our phones are in a dead zone.
We packed our junk in like 2 minutes and hauled butt.
Yes, we think we over reacted.
Its kind of country and someone could of been shooting at a critter.
But it was well....odd.
If it were just the two of us, I think we would of braved it til morning.
But Oprah, you tell me to follow my mommy instincts and this instinct told me to go.
So we left.
Kiddos crying they don't want to go, daddy and mommy maneuvering in the pitch black of the night, and reassuring them we weren't going home that we were on our way to Mamaw's and Papaw's.
I don't know how you did it alone!?
On our drive home I suffered horrible reflux from the scare.
Tonya...your one brave momma!

OMG!!!!!!!! What gives? Girl, you have NO idea how terrified I was! I called 911 and then called John CRYING! I was so scared! I locked us in my room till the next morning and listened to helicopters and sirens all night. I would've gone to my mom's that night, but I was too terrified to go outside! I told John I wanted a new house, or a dog, or a gun, or something. He said no gun - I'd hurt myself trying to get it out of the box. He's probably right. And no dog....too scared to walk it now.

The lake house looks like so much fun. I can't wait till we get to go with ya'll. Presley would love the smores pit. :) I am sorry you guys had to leave to gunfire. That sucks! Don't people know that what goes up must come down and what ever is coming out of that gun has to be stuck in something in order for it to stop. I just don't get it. And I am not willing to risk any stray bullet hitting one of my babies, or me or John. What idiots!

Anyways, glad you guys are safe! I had more gunfire last night....locked us in the room again too.

I didn't, not sure if Tonya found out.
It really is scary when you have little ones.
